ANOTHER wet and wonderful Wednesday put paid to most matches in the Whitchurch League, writes Norman Figg.

In Division One, Howard Park outplayed Hyde Abbey by 73 shots to 33 and go top. Basingstoke Town’s Spades stay second despite having a bye week, while Hyde Abbey who started the season brightly have slipped to fourth. Oakley Buzzards beat a weak Littleton Leopards team 57-28 and Old Basing Cavaliers overcame Andover B in a low scoring match 28-12.

There was only one match played in Division Two, where Town’s Diamonds just pipped Alton Social 43-40.

In Division Three Howard Park C stay top despite a bye week ahead of St Mary Bourne Eagles who beat Hook Foxes 46-18. Old Basing Roundheads moved up to third after beating Andover C 20-16.

The only match in Division Four saw St Mary Bourne Merlins go top after they beat Old Basing Royalists 23-20.

Alton Social and Howard Park head the Basingstoke District Bowling Association Division One, following their wins over Kingsclere 57-49 and Oakley 62-58 respectively.

Old Basing are in third after a win over Town 54-52. Whitchurch beat Andover 58-50.

The first week of Division Two saw Alton go top, following their win at Thornycroft 60-44. St Mary Bourne are second with a win at Town B 58-57 and Hook enjoyed a 63-52 victory over Oakley B.
