TADLEY Calleva followed up booking their place in the final of the North Hants Senior Cup, but keeping up their promotion push from Wessex League Division One with a 3-1 victory over Romsey on Tuesday night.

The home side played some really nice football throughout the game and an excellent move saw Jason Kingston with an overlap cross into the box for Grant Powell to score.

Tadley doubled their lead after Scott Kinge and Sam Hamilton were both denied by great saves and Brett Denham from an acute angle netted.

After the break, Romsey opened their account with a great strike, but the home side made sure of the win as Kingston and Powell both combined and the ball took a wicked deflection, but Denham was still able to get his head on the ball and put the ball into the back of the net.

The side also meet a week on Saturday, which could well go a long way to deciding the second promotion spot.

Tadley's busy end to the season continues with a home games against Ringwood on Saturday, before Totton and Eling visit on Tuesday night.

Last Thursday, Tadley booked their place in the final of the North Hants Senior Cup final after an excellent giant killing 1-0 win over visiting Southern League side Fleet Town.

They will now face Whitchurch United in the final on Thursday May 5 at the Camrose.

For the visit of Fleet Dolan switched around his starting line-up as a trio of teenagers Archie Fawcett (16), Dan Charsley (17) and Connor Thorn (17) all came in, Tadley weathered the expected early storm from their higher league outfit, but it remained 0-0 at the break.

After the interval, Scott Kinge and Grant Powell came off the bench and both saw chances hit the bar.

Tadley then won the tie with three minutes left as Powell produced some magic as he turned the Fleet left back inside and out and crossed for Tennant to score.

Dolan said: "It was a fantastic result and it was a great to be able to start with three teenagers. We will now look forward to the final, which should be a good game."
