HOOK booked their place in the semi-final of the Peter Raynbird Cup with a 4-1 win at AWE against AFC Aldermaston A.

Hook were gifted an opener in the second minute as a very poor back pass from Shaun Berry was seized on by Pete Silvester and his pass led to Aaron King scoring.

It was an equally bad mistake that handed Aldermaston A their equaliser 10 minutes later.

Hook’s goalkeeper Chris LeBrow threw the ball out to James Westwood.

It fell short and was picked up by Tony Johnson who chipped past LeBrow from 25 yards out.

Hook regained their lead after 17 minutes as another good ball from Silvester put Tom Davies through on goal.

He rounded former Hook player, Brad Nicholson, now keeping goal for the division two side and slotted home.

LeBrow tipped a fine shot over the bar to prevent Aldermaston equalising soon after.

However, as the pitch cut up badly good football became difficult and it remained at 2-1 at the break.

Hook made it 3-1 after 55 minutes after King put Silvester away down the left, he cut in beat the goalie one-on-one.

After this there was little fight from the opposition and a minute from time Berry pulled down Davies and Andy Haig converted the spot kick.

Hook will now travel to TwentyTen in the final four.

l The funeral of Hook stalwart Tony Sellwood, who sadly passed away recently, will take place at the Basingstoke Crematorium on Tuesday February 16 (1.15pm).

Sellwood first played for Hook as a 14-year-old in 1952 and spent over 60 years at the club.
