TRON continued their excellent unbeaten campaign, as they reached the final of the Hampshire B Cup thanks to a 5-0 win over visiting Hythe Aztecs.

They will now meet the winners of the other semi-final between AFC Burton and Kyngs Towne at the Christchurch FC Ground on Saturday April 16 (11 am).

The pitch at Newfound last Saturday was very heavy after overnight rain, but survived a 1pm inspection.

Tron took four minutes to take the lead against their Southampton League opponents.

Good build up play by Zac Reynolds and Richard Kalwarczyk set-up Ben Nicholls to round the goalkeeper and slot home.

The return of Nicholls is a big boost for Darren Hutchins' side and he is back at the right time with the run in for the Division Two title and being available for all the four cups they remain in contention for.

Aztecs were always in contention in this game and only two excellent saves by Kevin Beaumont kept Tron ahead.

They doubled their advantage after 26 minutes as Nicholls scored his second.

It came on a counter attack which forced a corner. This was taken by Lorne Howard and Nicholls hit the roof of the net from 10 yards out, after outpacing his marker.

In the 46th minute, Nicholls completed his hat-trick when a ball from Barney Powell was headed on by Stuart Austen and his 25-yard lob proved too good for the goalkeeper.

Nicholls has now scored 25 goals in his 10 appearances, was then substituted and his replacement Richard McCoubrie set up the fourth goal.

It came from a corner in the 65th minute, that was firmly headed into the net by centre back Gordon Birch.

McCoubrie himself with a 30-yard strike completed the 5-0 victory with Tron’s fifth with a 30 yarder.
