GET those votes in as today as it is the last day to vote for the Basingstoke Gazette Sports Personality for 2015 to follow in the footsteps of Basingstoke Bison star Kurt Reynolds.

The winner will be revealed at the Basingstoke and Deane Sports Awards, which will be held at the Apollo Hotel on Friday March 4.

This year there is no short list to vote from, but listed below are a few names that you may consider – though the decision is entirely up to you as these names are only a guide.

You may want to vote for a Basingstoke Town player. Club captain David Ray and striker Chris Flood played a big part in getting the Dragons to the play-offs last season.

Flood also found the net during the club’s FA Cup run to the first round in early November.

Odiham hockey star Alex Danson was winner of this award in 2012, and had another great year as she helped England to the EuroHockey Championship title.

Another previous winner is Justin Rose and he was in good form last year, as he finished second in the US Masters and also claimed two more PGA Tour titles winning in New Orleans and Hong Kong.

On the cricket scene, Spencer Champ had a great season for Hook and Newnham Basics as he ended up the leading wicket taker in the Southern League Division One with 41 victims.

Powerlifters Beverley Rodgers and Jean Maton both enjoyed a good year as Rodgers won gold at the Commonwealth Championships and Maton did likewise at the worlds.

Teenage skater Danielle Harrison capped a superb 2015, by winning the British Senior Ladies title, having only just turned 16.

Hartley Wintney footballer Sam Argent has been at the centre of his club’s great success in the league, FA Cup and FA Vase.

For the Bison forwards Ciaran Long and Tomas Karpov both enjoyed a great 2015, Long was the team’s top scoring player last season and Karpov is top of the pile this time around.
