FATHER and son racing duo Rob and Ricky Collard endured a disappointing final weekend of the season at Brands Hatch.

British Touring Car Championship driver Rob was unable to finish higher than seventh in any of his three races following a poor performance in qualifying, while Ricky was unable to overhaul Lando Norris to take the MSA Formula title.

Rob Collard was only able to qualify in 18th place, more than a second off pole position, and his entire race weekend suffered as a result.

He did well to move up the field and finish 10th in race one, but was unable to gain any more ground in the second race, finishing in the same position.

Collard fared somewhat better in the final race of the season, finishing seventh, but the West Surrey Racing driver was unable to improve his standing in the drivers' championship, ending the season 10th.

Ricky Collard went into the final meeting of the MSA Formula season second in the championship, just 13 points behind leader Lando Norris.

Norris dominated qualifying, taking pole position for race one, with Collard having to settle for the fourth slot on the grid.

The championship leader led from start to finish to extend his lead and while Collard was able to gain a place on lap one to get himself on the podium in third place, Norris had a bit more breathing space.

Collard actually beat his rival in the second race, finishing sixth, but Norris was just one position further back and claimed the title with a race to spare.

An eighth-place finish in race three saw Collard lose further ground on Norris, who finished second, but that result was enough to secure second place in the championship for the Hook driver.

Speaking on Twitter following the final race, Collard said: "I've tried my hardest and driven with my heart on my sleeve. Thank you for all your support!"
