ALDERMASTON A were crowned the Basingstoke and District Ladies Division One champions after the closest title race for many years.

Only one point separated the top four clubs, with Aldermaston topping the table on sets won. Beechdown A were second, with defending champions Andover A and Oakley a further point back.

Aldermaston beat Old Basing 5-3 to win the title, thanks to a maximum from Karen McKenzie and Keren Bailey, while Beechdown were 5-3 winners against Goodworth Clatford A.

The Old Basing A team of Sandie Benham, Beverley Cleaver, Penny Luke and Lynne Thomas beat Aldermaston B 8-0.

Hampshire Court A won the Division Two title from Overton and RSF, while Winchester B took the Division Three title from Preston Candover.

Andover defended their title in Mixed Division One. Beechdown A and Old Basing A finished joint second, with Old Basing beating Odiham A 8-0 in the final match.

The Division Two title went to Oakley A, with Totally Tennis A in second place.

Oakley B won Division Three from Old Basing B, while Totally Tennis C beat Oakley C 7-1.

Beechdown C won the Division Four title by just one point, edging out Hampshire Court. Kingsclere won 5-3 at Hook and 7-1 against Old Basing C.
