FORMER Saints striker Kevin Davies has announced his retirement.
The 38-year-old has called a halt to his playing career after 22 seasons as a professional.
Davies had two spells at Saints, first joining the club in 1997 after rising to prominence at Chesterfield.
He scored 12 goals in 30 appearances, before Blackburn paid £7.5m for him in 1998.
After an unsuccessful spell at Ewood Park, Davies made the switch back to The Dell in 1999, going on to score 13 goals in 95 appearances, before joining Bolton in 2003.
Davies, who was capped by England in 2010, announced his decision to retire on his Twitter page.
