READING manager Steve Clarke was a busy man on transfer deadline day, bringing in three players on loan and selling highly-rated centre-back Michael Hector to Chelsea.

Hector, who is 23, has joined the Premier League champions for a fee of £4million, but will return to the Madejski Stadium on loan for the rest of this season.

Another player joining on loan from Chelsea is 21-year-old Brazilian midfielder Lucas Piazon, who spent last season with Eintract Frankfurt in the German top-flight.

Clarke also moved to complete two other season-long loan deals on Tuesday, signing Ola John and Matej Vydra.

Dutch winger John, who is 23, joins from Benfica, while Czech striker Vydra, who is also 23, moves from Watford. He looks a good bet to score goals, having found the net 36 times in his previous two Championship seasons.
