IT HAS been a mixed week for Whitchurch United in the Wessex League Premier Division.
The Jam Boys beat high-flying AFC Portchester 1-0 last Wednesday, Danny Phillips getting the only goal of the game at Longmeadow, but they lost 3-1 at home to Fareham Town on Saturday.
Fareham scored after six minutes and doubled their lead just after the hour, but Scott Hassell's strike on 67 minutes set up a tense finale.
Whitchurch pushed for an equaliser but were unable to find one and conceded a third goal in injury-time.
As a result, the Jam Boys sit 12th in the table, with six points from five games. They are in Hampshire Senior Cup action tomorrow night, hosting Wessex League Division One outfit US Portsmouth.
