HOOK touring car driver Rob Collard won the final race as his West Surrey Racing team enjoyed an afternoon of unparalleled success at Croft yesterday.

The team completed a clean sweep of race wins in North Yorkshire, with each of the three drivers claiming one victory.

Having finished third and sixth in the opening two races, Collard found himself in pole position for the start of the third.

He lost out to Gordon Shedden on the first lap but kept in contention throughout and made the race-winning pass on lap 12, going on to win by seven seconds from team-mate Andy Priaulx.

Earlier in the day, Collard had claimed a podium finish in the opening race as West Surrey Racing claimed the first 1-2-3 in the British Touring Car Championship for six years.

Having qualified fourth in his BMW 125i M Sport, Collard overtook the Honda of championship leader Shedden into the first corner before holding on to follow team-mates Priaulx and Sam Tordoff home.

The Hook racer found himself well down the grid for race two but was in battles throughout. He got himself up to fifth at one stage, but an epic battle with Shedden ended with the Honda man getting ahead, so Collard had to settle for sixth place in a race won by Tordoff.

The results leave Collard eighth in the drivers' championship heading into the six-week summer break. His next races will be at Snetterton, in Norfolk, in early August.
