BASINGSTOKE and North Hants are looking for a winning home double this weekend in the Southern League and T20 Cup.

The first visitors to May’s Bounty are Bournemouth, who make the trip for a league encounter on Saturday. The following day, Liphook and Ripsley visit for a T20 game that starts at 4pm.

The Bountymen bounced back to winning ways in fine style last weekend, erasing the memory of their loss against Hook and Newnham Basics, when they were bowled out for 50, by skittling New Milton out for 48.

The victory moved Basingstoke up to second and with New Milton entertaining new leaders Hook this weekend, there is everything to play for.

Froud said: “We got bowled out for 50 against Hook and then bowl New Milton out for 48; both innings you cannot explain.

“With Hook and NewMilton playing this weekend we really need to win against Bournemouth and then see what happens in the other game.”

Basingstoke are set to field an unchanged team for the visit of the Dorset side, who suffered their first loss in five games last weekend against Andover.

Talking about Saturday’s game, Froud said: “We know they have a number of dangerous players and we are not going to take them lightly. They have also been doing well in recent weeks.”

On Sunday, the Bountymen turn their attention to earning themselves a place in the quarter-finals of the Southern Electric T20 Cup, with fellow Division One side Liphook and Ripsley the visitors.

Basingstoke are expected to shuffle their line-up. Most of the first team will remain, but there will be at least one addition in excellent T20 player Brad Neal.

The youngster showed what he could do last Sunday in the Bertie Joel Cup against visiting East Molesey as he smashed four sixes in an impressive 54 from only 20 balls.

That knock, along with Chris Oliver’s 60, was in vain as the Bountymen reached 273-8 trying to chase down the visitors’ total of 284-7.

Froud said: “It is nice to be at home again in this competition and against a team from our own division.

“We know it is not going to be an easy game, but it would be nice to get into the last eight of the competition.”
