AN UNBEATEN 140 from Ali Mumtez made sure Hobos lead the way in the Hampshire Cricket League County Division Three North as they maintained their perfect start with a six-wicket win against visiting OT & Romsey.

Mumtez’s fine knock helped Hobos to 253-4 as they chased down the visitors’ 252-6.

Hook and Newnham Basics III are second after a nine-wicket win over Michelmersh, who they bowled out for 71.

Barry Goodman (5-33) was star of the bowling attack, taking a hat-trick. He was well supported by Jack Campbell (3-24) and Luca Wade (2-1 from 10 balls).

Jordan Hobday saw Hook home, hitting two sixes and eight fours in his unbeaten 58.

Overton enjoyed a crushing 146-run victory over AWE Tadley as Dave Thomson (59) top scored in their winning total of 226-7. Tadley were then bowled out for just 80, as Lewis Watts (6-28) had a superb time with the ball.

Hartley Wintney II suffered a 52-run reverse at Hursley Park II as they were all out for 145 trying to chase down 197-8, in which Graham Jackson took 3-20.

Hook II skipper Matt McNally hit an unbeaten 99 as his side enjoyed a three-wicket win over visiting Hayling Island (211-7) in Division One.

Division Two leaders Bishop’s Waltham visited third-placed Old Basing in what was expected to be a close contest, but it turned out not to be the case as the visitors posted 333-6 and in reply, Basing made just 55.

Basingstoke and North Hants III are second as they maintained their 100 per cent start to the season. Teenagers Shay Bradley (3-15) and Ashley Neal (3-16) had another good day with the ball at Bransgore, as the home side were shot out for 64, with Harry Smith also taking 3-22.

The visitors then knocked off the winning runs, losing four wickets in the process.

Whitchurch’s Tom Trinder hit a half-century in the Division Four North game against near neighbours Wherwell.

The home side made 204-9 before the visitors were bowled out 86.

Oakley’s Tom Holbrook took four wickets to limit visiting Compton and Ford II to 139. However, this still proved too much for the home side, who were bowled out for 124.
