WHITCHURCH United toasted an excellent season at their end-of-year presentation evening.

The club, who started the season with a new manager and several new players, finished sixth in the Sydenhams Wessex Premier Division, seven places higher than in 2013-2014.

The Jamboys were also unlucky to miss out on cup success, losing a penalty shoot-out to Winchester in the North Hants Cup final.

However, there was much to celebrate on the night as Danny Phillips grabbed the club’s Golden Boot award after amassing an impressive 25 goals throughout the season.

Phillips also scooped Manager’s Player of the Year from his boss Carl Bennett, while goalkeeper Brad Snelling took both the Supporters’ Player and Players’ Player of the Year awards after a magnificent season between the posts.

Snelling then made it a hat-trick of trophies as he picked up the Jackman Cup, presented by owner Brian Jackman, for being the club’s most consistent player.

Josh Harfield rounded off the awards, receiving the Most Improved Player trophy after an impressive season.

Jackman has been delighted with the team’s progress.

He said: “Carl has exceeded the committee’s aspirations of finishing mid-table by finishing sixth out of 21 teams – which is a really good position to be in – particularly since a lot of people thought we were underdogs.”
