BASINGSTOKE Town have re-signed five more players for next season, they are Jamie Brown, Liam Enver-Marum, Shaun McAuley, Rob Rice and Nathan Smart.

This brings the total number of players signed so far 11 and manager Jason Bristow said: “We are delighted to have secured a lot of last season’s squad, it’s important that we keep momentum and the spirit of the group together.

“We are aware that we will need to add additional players to the squad to strengthen and support the current group and again this process is underway and we will are continuing talks with potential targets to add to the group.”

Brown a tough-tackling midfielder arrived at the Soccer AM Stadium from Gosport last September and has been a commanding figure in the middle of the park.

Bristow said: “Browny had a real positive influence both on and off the pitch and will be very important for us next season”.

Striker Enver-Marum returns for a second full season with Town and the powerful forward has an impressive ratio of 24 goals in 40 games.

Bristow said: “Liam has committed for another season and we are delighted that he will be leading the line for us again. Liam’s strength and finishing is a really important factor in our team.”

Goal scoring midfielder McAuley is back for another season having arrived in Basingstoke from Eastleigh in 2011 and has since scored 33 goals with the club.

Bristow is aware of the importance he brings to the team and said: “Macca will be back for another season and will again provide energy in our midfield. He is a vital part of what our team is all about and we are delighted he has re-signed with us.”

Town’s longest serving player Rice, back for a seventh season and is comfortable playing in a variety of positions.

He has now made over 200 appearances for the team, which he has captained a number of occasions.

Bristow said: “Robbie is returning again for another season, the reliable defender is a very consistent performer and will be an important signing.”

Another defender and local lad Nathan Smart has prolonged his stay with his local team and praised the club which he joined in 2010 and said: “Signing another one year deal was an easy decision for me. Basingstoke is my hometown club we have a brilliant manager and coach, great people in and around the club and the best fans in the league.”

Bristow echoed Smart’s comments and said: “Nathan’s another local player who loves playing for the club, Nathan has had an excellent season and we are delighted to have him back.”
