THE all-conquering Slough Jets proved too hot to handle for the Basingstoke Buffalo as they booked their place in the South Two promotion play-off final with a 14-3 aggregate win last weekend.

The Jets made it 26 wins out of 27 game this season as they followed up an 11-3 win on home ice with a 3-0 success in Basingstoke last Sunday.

The Buffalo had only 10 skaters for the first game due to work commitments and injuries and added two players for the return.

The second game certainly turned into more of a dog fight, even though the visitors opened the scoring at 2:06, as Slough’s man-of-the-match Liam Underdown released Zoran Kozic to score.

The Buffalo hit back as Louis Taylor, Ashley Skinns and Franceso Tambellini all had chances.

The second session was like the first with the Jets having more of the play, but the home side’s man-of-the-match Jordan Lawday stopped everything they fired at him.

At the other end, Gareth Wheeler saw his blue line shot kicked away and then Dan Milton made a sharp save to deny the impressive Paul Petts after a nice pass from the lively Mark Pitts.

Ben Edwards forced Milton into a catch before the Jets doubled their lead at 41:27 from Josh Ealey-Newton.

The home side looked to hit back and Ryan Sutton tipped over a pass from Petts, before Ealey-Newton scored again.

The Buffalo kept looking for a goal, with a nice blue line strike from Dave Collins being saved by Milton late on.

In the first game on Saturday night, the Buffalo’s three goals were scored by man-of-the-match Sutton, Greg Martyn and Lawday.
