BASINGSTOKE’S Stuart Archibald sits fourth on the MENA Tour order of merit after impressing at the first two tournaments of the season.

The 30-year-old from Worting travelled to Morocco for the opening events of the year – and it was a trip that proved to be well worth taking as he finished second and 11th in the two tournaments.

Archibald was particularly impressive at the opening event, the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam Open, carding rounds of 73 (par), 74 (+1) and 71 (-2) to finish in a tie for second place on -1, two shots behind winner Ross McGowan.

Next up was the Royal Golf D’Anfa Open and while Archibald put together three good rounds, carding 70 (-2), 70 (-2) and 71 (-1), his five-under-par total was only good enough for 11th place, eight shots behind winner Paul Doherty.

Archibald’s results earned him almost $6,000 in prize money, leaving him fourth on the order of merit for the MENA Tour, which now has a summer break, returning in September.

Until then, Archibald will switch his attention to the EuroPro Tour, the third tier of European golf, which gets under way in mid-May.
