BASINGSTOKE Bison Ciaran Long scored the game winning goal for the GB Prospects team as they beat Romania 3-1 on Friday night in Fife.
Long scored at 26:49 after Manchester Phoenix’s Bobby Chamberlain had given the home side the lead 49 seconds in the second period.
GB’s third goal came from Chris Jones, before the visitors netted their lone strike at 51:57.
The Great Britain senior team which includes a number of ex-Bison players start their World Championship campaign tomorrow lunchtime against Croatia in Eindhoven.
They then face Estonia (Tuesday), Korea (Thursday) Netherlands (Saturday) and Lithuania (Sunday).
Bison’s Long also had another reason to celebrate last week as the leading goal scorer for the Herd he won the Players’ Player award at the club’s annual award’s night.
Also honoured were Joe Greener (Coach’s Player of Year), Aaron Connolly (Player of the Year), Kurt Reynolds (British Player of the Year) and Stuart Mogg (Most Improved Player).
