NO, it's not a scene from a lost episode of The Vital Spark, it's January 1966 and the final sailing of Govan Ferry No 7.

The vessel, commonly known as a Clutha', from the old Gaelic name for the Clyde, was just one of dozens which criss-crossed the river in the days before the Kingston and Squinty bridges.

If you lived in Partick or Yoker but worked in the yards on the south side of the river, or stayed in Govan but had a job on the north bank, the Cluthas were a lifeline, providing cheap and regular transport across the mighty Clyde.
