ROBBERS escaped with more than £100,000 after holding up two security guards taking cash to a bank.

The thieves pulled up as the security men were carrying out cash-in-transit duties at Bank of Scotland in Station Road, Bishopton, Renfrewshire, around 10.35pm last night.

Three men threatened one of the guards with a baseball bat before escaping with a six-figure sum of cash.

The guard suffered an injury to his hand during the incident,.

The robbers were in dark clothing and two were wearing hoodies'.

Police said it was not known if the robbers had driven to the scene and are appealing for anyone who may have seen something suspicious to contact them.

A spokeswoman said: "We are appealing for anyone who may have seen three men in the area at this time in a car or walking towards the scene."
