HAMILTON heavyweight Ian Millarvie has started 2008 as he aims to finish it - by capturing a title.
He will receive the St Andrews Sporting Club/Platinum Limo boxer of the month trophy at the Club's annual Burns Night on Monday following his two-round demolition of Latvian Jevgenijs Stamburskis in November.
Millarvie will be back in action with his first eight-rounder on February 29 on the undercard of Kevin McIntyre's British welterweight title defence against former champ Kevin Anderson at Glasgow's Kelvin Hall.
Promoter Tommy Gilmour has told Millarvie 2008 could be his championship breakthrough year if he keeps up that form.
Former British light-welterweight champion Barry Morrison tops the bill against Billy Smith of Worcester.
