By John McCann A CELEBRATION of Scotland's national drink is moving to a new home in Glasgow after growing too big.

The Whisky Live show's Scottish leg has drawn thousands of fans of a dram to Glasgow's George Square for the past three years.

Now organisers are moving this year's event to the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre to cope with the crowds which passed the 3000 mark last year.

And the show will swap its traditional slot in September for dates on November 2 and 3, allowing it to run alongside the BBC Good Food Show.

Damian Riley-Smith, the director of Whisky Live said: "The move to the SECC, along with our new dates, will bring the next exciting burst in the growth of Whisky Live Glasgow.

"Now in 10 cities around the world, Whisky Live shows the breadth of fascination whisky holds globally.

"Where better to hold the very greatest celebration than in the heartland of whisky production and only moments away from visiting the distilleries on an extended stay?"

The first ever Whisky Live show took place in Tokyo, and Glasgow quickly became a regular date on a world tour that takes in a number of major cities.

Each event offers a chance to sample some of the greatest malts in the world and to meet the people who produce them, with samples included in the price of a ticket.

TV chef Gordon Ramsay will return to his native Glasgow for the Good Food Show which runs from November 2 to 4. There will be opportunities to meet celebrities and producers of the finest Scottish fayre.
