GLASGOW'S robust housing market has sparked a mini jobs boom in the city.

Legal company PSM Direct has announced plans to expand in the city with the creation of dozens of jobs.

The Dunfermline-based firm will offer 10 jobs immediately and a further 25 in the autumn.

PSM Direct said the decision to expand in the city was taken due to increased business as a result of the strong housing market.

The new office, which marks the company's biggest expansion, will be based at Craighall, near Cowcaddens.

Recent figures by Clyde estate agents show property prices in Glasgow rose by 9% in 2006 and analysts predict a further 10% rise this year.

Chief executive of PSM Kyle Peddie, said: "The time is right for expansion into Glasgow, which fits perfectly with our head office operation in Dunfermline.

"This is an important step forward for PSM Direct and reflects increasing business in a strong housing market which shows no signs of diminishing."

Property rises of 12% were recorded across the Central Belt with popular hotspots including Hyndland, Broomhill, Bearsden and Milngavie continuing to entice buyers.

Figures showed the overall value of Scotland's private housing stock rocketed by 97% between 2001 and 2006.
