SCOTLAND are crying out for a goalscorer against Iceland tonight after failing to hit the net in their last three international encounters.

Coach George Burley won't be too concerned whether that goal comes from a striker, midfielder or even a defender.

Wingers may even be deployed tonight in a bid to break down Iceland.

A BROWN (Rutherglen) has a question about a legendary player of that position. He would like to know how many goals Jimmy Johnstone scored for Scotland and who they were against? Jinky found the net four times in his 23 appearances. His first two goals came in the 4-3 defeat against England at Hampden Park on April 2, 1966. He also scored in a 3-2 defeat against West Germany in a World Cup Qualifier at the Volkspark Stadium, Hamburg, on October 22, 1969. His final goal for Scotland cane in another defeat, this time to Belgium, 2-1, in a friendly at Klokke Stadion, Brugge on June 1, 1974.

CCCC (Carmyle) - Would it be possible for you to give details of ex-Vale of Clyde and Dumbarton player Peter Coleman? We have no playing records of his Junior career but, as a Senior he had two games for ES Clydebank in 1964/65, one for Alloa in 1966/67 as well as a spell with Cambuslang Rangers.

He was with Albion Rovers between 1967/68 and 1970/71, making 100 appearances and finding the net on 29 occasions. He joined Dumbarton in 1971/72 and started 175 matches for them and another 22 as substitute. He scored 20 times before finishing his Senior career in 1975/76.

JIM (Mosspark) - My teacher at Bellahouston Academy told me that a former pupil scored four goals against Rangers. Is he right? Your teacher is spot on. Ally MacLeod, the ex-Bella boy, scored all four goals for St Mirren in a League Cup game against Rangers at Ibrox on August 23, 1973. St Mirren fell a goal behind but a stunning individual display from Ally earned them a 4-1 victory. Ally spent three years with St Mirren before joining Southampton. He returned to Scotland with Hibs where he spent eight seasons, notching 71 goals in 208 league appearances.

TOMMY KELLY (Cambuslang) - When I was growing up, my father and uncles were all fans of the Junior side Petershill FC. Can you tell me when the "Peasy" were formed, who they played in their first game and give details of any of their players who became full internationals? In 1894, a team named St Mungo Juniors disbanded and it was decided to form a new team to represent the Springburn and Townhead districts. A meeting was held in Thomson's Restaurant on Friday, June 4, 1897, which led to the formation of Petershill FC.

The Peasy's first-ever game was a 2-2 draw in a friendly match against Redcliffe Thistle, but their first competitive game was a Glasgow Junior Cup tie away to Melville Park on September 11, 1897. It was a pretty good start for the new club as they recorded an 8-0 victory.

A number of Peasy players went on to become full Scottish internationals, some of the most notable being: Ernie McGarr (Aberdeen), Johnny Kelly (Barnsley), Torry Gillick (Everton), Johnny McKenzie (Partick Thistle) and Alex Massie (Hearts and Aston Villa).

CHARLES CARMICHAEL (Parkhead) - Can you confirm that former Celtic player Roy Aitken actually has the first name Robert? Also, when did he make his league debut for Celtic? Roy is in fact called Robert Sime Aitken, and was born on November 28, 1958, in Irvine, Ayrshire. He made his league debut for Celtic on February 21, 1976 in an away game at Aberdeen, which Celtic won 1-0.
