READING left it late to grab a Championship point at Bolton Wanderers as they drew 1-1.
Jamie Mackie scored an equaliser in the final minute, as the Royals looked set to suffer their fifth league defeat in six games.
Earlier in the contest, Bolton lost their top scorer Zach Clough and his replacement Eidur Gudjohnsen scored the opening goal on the hour, after good work from former Reading player Adam LeFondre.
This looked enough to win the game until Mackie’s low strike made sure the Royals picked up a point which keeps them 18th in the table.
Reading manager Steve Clarke said: “I felt we shaded the first half and I was disappointed with the goal we lost.
“We showed good character, determination and resilience to get something out of this game.”
Reading have a break from league action this weekend, as they travel to Bradford for their FA Cup quarter-final on Saturday (kick-off 12.45pm).
Their next Championship game is on Tuesday night, when they entertain Brighton at the Madejski Stadium (kick-off 8pm).
