Former Hampshire stars Imran Tahir and Kyle Abbott took seven wickets between them as South Africa equalled the biggest margin of victory in a World Cup match – beating West Indies by 257 runs.
AB De Villiers set up the win with an astonishing 162 not out from 66 balls as South Africa amassed 408-5 – including 80 off the last 20 balls.
The result was not in any doubt when World Cup debutant Abbott (2-37) bowled Chris Gayle for three with an outswinger that hit the top of leg stump.
Abbott, who may return to Hampshire later this year, had Marlon Samuels caught behind for a duck in his next over to leave the Windies 16-2 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Leg-spinner Tahir (5-45) claimed the first five-for of his ODI career when he took five of the last seven wickets to fall as the Windies were all out for 151.
