Basingstoke and North Hants cricketer Leon Nurse is determined to finish his charity horse racing career with a victory at Newbury on Saturday.

Nurse will swap his cricket whites for horse racing silks for one last time in the final race of Saturday’s eight-race card.

His race starts at 5.35pm and he will be riding the George Baker trained Uganda Glory.

Nurse, who turned 63 this month, is hoping to continue his good record at the Berkshire course and said: “I am really looking forward to it.

"There are going to be a lot of my friends and family there cheering me on. It would be great to finish with a win in my final race.”
