BASINGSTOKE Saints brought a run of four successive defeats to an end with a 3-0 victory over South View in Basingstoke and District Sunday League Division One.

David Gibson and Rick Pike had the home side two goals to the good before half-time, with Liam James converting Adam Butler’s pass to make the game safe and allow Saints to leapfrog their opponents in the table.

The game between Dayer’s Fine Foods and Oakley was goalless until the hour mark, when Oakley took the lead. Alex Brown soon levelled from the penalty spot, but two late goals earned Oakley all three points.

Leaders Republic of Chineham made light work of their trip to Kaiser Wessex, winning 5-1 to retain their position at the top of the pile.

FC Everest enjoyed a 4-1 win in Division Two over visiting RAF Odiham Blades.

New Inn got the better of Chineham at the end of a nine-goal thriller, extending their unbeaten run to seven games in the process.

Steven Bean hit a hat-trick for New Inn, with Matt Osborne and Tom Skinner also finding the net. Matt Tenson and Kieron Alleyne both bagged braces for Chineham.

North Warnborough II scored twice in each half to record a comfortable victory away at Oakley Reserves. Trevor Rogers and Andy Parker had them in charge at the interval, with Ryan Thorpe scoring twice after the break.

The champions have also been crowned in Division Three, Eastrop Eagles securing the title with a 2-1 win away at Soldiers Return Reserves.

There were no goals in the first half and it was the hosts who took a surprise lead after the break, Pawel Derbot netting from the penalty spot after a foul on Matt Buckingham.

Keith Davies soon levelled for the leaders and Bobby Frost got the winner with the final kick of the game.

Brendan Vickery scored twice and Ryan Stephens, Luke Chattley and Luke Vickery were also on target for Team FC as they won 6-1 at AFC Golden Lion. Aaron Burt netted Golden Lion’s consolation goal.

Basing United have resigned from the league, with their record being expunged.
