JUSTIN Rose finished joint second with Rory McIlroy and Victor Dubuisson in the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, two shots behind winner Henrik Stenson -16.

It was a great recovery for the north Hampshire golfer who suffered an awful start to his opening round as he hit a double bogey on the third hole and then dropped further shots at four and six.

This was followed by a birdie at seven and bogey at 10, before five birdies in the final seven holes rescued the round and left him one under.

He carried this form into the next day, as he hit seven birdies, before blotting his copy book with a bogey on the last, but his round of 66 shot him up the leaderboard.

He then followed this up with a 68 and 69 in his final two rounds to finish joint second.

A result which is sure to push him up, the new Race to Dubai standings, which are released later this week.
