BASINGSTOKE ice skaters picked up a number of medals at the Basingstoke Open, which was held at the Basingstoke Arena and attracted skaters from across Britain.

Lucy Ann Walker collected a double victory, as she won the ladies’ senior short and free programmes.

In the men’s short programme, Oliver Parrington-Tyler was second, Christopher Pattenden was third and Sam Tudgay fourth.

In the free programme, Parrington-Tyler took another second place, again ahead of Pattenden in third.

Annabelle Weir won a silver medal in the ladies’ level one aged 11 and over.

Ben Gregory was a bronze medallist in the men’s beginner category and Piers Fulcher did the same in the men’s level one competition, with Luke Baker coming fourth.

Esther Carruthers won another bronze for the ladies’ level seven, while clubmates Isla and Emily Milne were eighth and ninth respectively.

There were many other excellent performances from Basingstoke skaters with Aimee Churchley coming fifth in the ladies’ level six class.

Verity Carruthers was sixth in the ladies’ advanced novice short programme and fifth in the free programme.

Victoria Jackson came seventh in both the ladies’ junior short and free programmes.

Kirsty Isaac and Ella Clow both finished seventh in ladies’ level four and level five classes respectively.

There were three eighth places for Sadie Cook (ladies’ level two), Charli Gillard (ladies’ level three) and Ellen Townsend (ladies’ one aged 10 and under). In the beginner ladies’ classes, Ava Wilson was tenth in the eight and under, Caitlin Williams was fourth for skaters aged nine. Florence Turner came eighth in age 10 and 11.

Yasmin Ford was sixth in age 12 and over with Emma Ingram coming seventh.

Skaters from the Basingstoke Ice Skating Club will next be in action in the club’s annual ice show which is at the Basingstoke Arena on the weekend of December 13 and 14 and is called Broadway on Ice.
