CONSISTENCY: That is what we’ll be looking for this coming weekend. We need to put together 120 minutes of our best hockey against local rivals Bracknell and Guildford if we are to get into serious contention for the cup and to maintain our position in the league.

I think we managed about 60 to 70 minutes last weekend. Ten of those minutes were in Milton Keynes when we suddenly sparked into life in the third period and pulled level.

That was not enough for us to make it over the line.

Having spent last season on the road as their new rink was being built, the home team worked hard to put on a performance which celebrated their new facility.

We congratulate them on providing such an impressive venue for ice hockey.

Thanks to all our fans who made the Saturday trip. I hope our performance in Swindon on Sunday made it clear that we had learned our lesson.

We’re still without Matt Selby, while Muzzy Wales and Andy Melachrino were added to the injury list.

Yet our depleted squad outworked and outplayed a Swindon team anxious to avoid a pointless weekend.

One young man has played consistently since the start of the season. Grant Rounding was rewarded with his first EPL goals in a Bison shirt.

He plays with great energy and purpose in every shift.

We don’t have a rink quite as shiny as at Milton Keynes, but we’re all looking forward to playing in front of our home fans on Saturday.

With the memory of throwing away a lead the last time we met Bracknell still fresh, we have a score to settle.

And then a short trip to Guildford on Sunday, to show we’ve learned the importance of consistency.

All the best,

Doug
