DESPITE being down to 10 men for 88 minutes, Rising Sun DC maintained their unbeaten record with a 4-1 North Hants Intermediate Cup win over Sherborne St John on Saturday.

Sam Nicholls received his marching orders for dissent after just two minutes, but goals from Lee Chambers and Ben Nicholls had them two up at the break. Shaun Searle made it 3-0 and while Asher Pirie pulled one back for Sherborne, Searle’s second completed the scoring.

Tadley Calleva A claimed the shock result of the day, beating Basingstoke Royals 8-4, with Kye Theodore scoring four.

He got his first after two minutes and while James McIntosh soon levelled, Lee Champion and a Theodore penalty had Royals 3-1 up.

Tom Smith scored direct from a free-kick to get Royals back into the game, but Simon Penfold restored Tadley’s two-goal lead before the break.

Further goals from Ash Saunders and Theodore had Tadley 6-2 up before Steve Horton pulled one back for Royals. Gary Hibbs then got Tadley’s seventh and while James Gilham replied, Theodore had the last word.

Welly Old Boys made their exit from the competition, going down 8-2 at home to Hook.

Welly had just 10 men and Hook took advantage, with Aaron King hitting a hat-trick, Peter Silvester and Andy Parker bagging braces and Dan Mellor getting the eighth. Graham Jenkins and an own-goal were the Welly scorers.

Bramley United lost 2-0 away at Andover Lions.
