DG ATHLETIC claimed their first win of the season, beating Nether Wallop 8-4 to progress in the North Hants John Ward Cup on Sunday.
Ritchie Budd scored four goals and Liam Crump bagged a hat-trick to see DG through, while Team FC and Eastrop Eagles also progressed. Team beat Barton Stacey Reserves 6-1, while Eastrop recorded a 2-1 win over AFC Golden Lion, whose goal was scored by Robert Upton.
The other three Basingstoke league sides in the competition were all knocked out.
Soldiers Return Reserves were beaten 4-1 by visiting King Alfred. Jay Wild missed a penalty for Soldiers Return, who found themselves a goal down at half-time.
King Alfred doubled their lead with 20 minutes left and while Arek Besvziera reduced the arrears from a free-kick, two further goals condemned Soldiers Return to their first home defeat.
Chineham Athletic went down 10-0 at home to Shipton Bellinger Rams, while Chineham Reserves lost 11-1 at home to AFC Gecko.
