AFC Berg caused a shock in the North Hants May Cup, the Basingstoke and District Saturday League Division Two side beating Division One outfit North Warnborough 3-1.

Goals from Kieran Allayne and Matt Goodman had Berg in control and while the visitors managed to pull a goal back, Goodman’s second of the game secured their place in the next round.

Hampshire Irons also progressed thanks to a 3-2 victory over high-flying Andover League outfit Kingsclere.

Steve Tickner gave Irons an early lead but goals from Sam Hamilton and Alex Frankling had the visitors ahead before half-time. The home side had a great chance to level going into the break, but Chris Dobbie hit the crossbar from the penalty spot.

However, Irons did pull level just after the hour through James Arnold and he then turned provider to set up the winner for Dobbie five minutes from time.

AFC Aldermaston A went down 8-2 at Andover New Street Swifts, with Paul Mellor and Kevin Flain getting their goals, while Sherborne St John Reserves took Kingsclere Reserves to extra-time before being beaten 4-1. Andy Carr scored for Sherborne, levelling the game in the first half.

Herriard Sports were too good for Labour Club, beating their hosts 5-0. Goals from Sam Weber and Adam Francis had Herriard ahead at half-time, with Weber getting his second after the break and further strikes from Scott Donnelly and Stuart Minton sealing the win.

Basingstoke Athletic travelled to Andover League outfit AFC White Hart and returned home with a 2-0 win under their belt. There was no score in the first half but Athletic went ahead on 55 minutes, Matt Stillwell heading home Dave Trevelion’s cross, while Matt Button met Dale Bristow’s centre to double the lead with 20 minutes to go.

TwentyTen enjoyed a 4-1 win over visiting Kings Somborne. Joe Osborne put the hosts ahead and while Somborne levelled, Joe Hill restored the lead before half-time. Further goals from Osborne and Carl Pearson, from the penalty spot, completed the scoring.

There was a frantic finale at Preston Candover. After 87 minutes without a goal, Michael Fuller put the hosts ahead, but visiting Broughton levelled almost immediately.

Ben Coe came up with the winner in added time, firing into the top corner from 20 yards to put Candover through.

Overton United A threw away a two-goal lead to go down 3-2 away at AFC Wolversdene. Silvai Thomas and Gus Reis had the visitors in control at the break, but they let in three during the second half to go out.

Winklebury Wizards suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 2-1 to Overton United B. Matty Bonner’s early strike had Overton ahead and Jamie Smith doubled the lead from the penalty spot after the break.

Wizards pulled one back through Scott Large 10 minutes from time, but they may get a reprieve as Overton are under investigation for potentially fielding an ineligible player.

Basingstoke United came from behind to beat Sutton Scotney 3-2. United trailed at half-time and while Tom Hartley levelled, a penalty had Sutton Scotney back in front. However, Hartley completed his hat-trick to win the game.

DJS Telecoms kept up their good form with a 7-3 win over Hook Reserves. Declan Elward netted a hat-trick for DJS, while Lee Neal and Carlos Gonzales got two each. Loz Wright scored twice for Hook, with Dave Mohamed also finding the net.
