SIX second-period goals made sure Basingstoke Buffalo made it three wins on the trot with an impressive 7-6 win over Bristol Pitbulls.

It was sweet revenge for the Basingstoke side, after they lost the opening meeting this season between these sides on home ice 9-4.

In a tough first period, Matt Lawday equalised for the Buffalo as it ended 1-1.

After the break, Ryan Sutton put the visitors ahead, only for the Pitbulls to bite back and take a 3-2 lead.

Man-of-the-match Alex Sampford levelled things and then Greg Martyn and Mark Pitts, assisted by Sampford and Dave Collins, made it 5-3.

Title favourites Bristol narrowed the lead to one goal at 32:57, but the visitors were not finished and Sampford finished a nice move involving Pitts and Gareth Wheeler. Pitts then made it 7-4 with 21 seconds left in the middle period.

The final 20 minutes saw the home side hit back with the two goals, the second being scored by former Bison forward Richard Hargreaves with 12 minutes left.

However, they were not able to find another way past netminder Chris Edwards as the visitors held on for a memorable 7-6 win.

The Buffalo are next in action at home on Sunday, November 2(face-off 6.30pm), when they entertain the Slough Jets.
