ANDOVER A have regained the Basingstoke and District Tennis League Ladies Division One title after Aldermaston A were unable to win all their games in hand.

Although they beat Goodworth Clatford B 6-2, they were held to a draw by Beechdown A and suffered a 5-3 defeat at second-placed Goodworth Clatford A.

Beechdown beat Old Basing A 6-2 and a maximum from Julie Frankland/Julie Greenslade saw Oakley A beat Overton 7-1. Aldermaston B are still top of Division Two, after they finished their campaign with a close 5-3 win at Sherborne.

They can still be overtaken by either Winchester or Mortimer A, who have games in hand.

Winchester won their latest match 6-2 against Preston Candover thanks to a maximum from Polly Ellerby/Hayley Knightley.

Mortimer B won 5-3 at RSF, with Helen Townsend/Jo Jones again proving unstoppable for the away team, and RSF beat Odiham 5-3.

Division Three leaders Andover B secured another 8-0 win, this time at Mortimer B, who also went down 5-3 at Hampshire Court A.

The Mortimer team of Michelle Goulding/Gillian Butler and Julie Murtagh/Belinda Chaplin secured an 8-0 win against Totally Tennis B, to remain in title contention.

Hampshire Court A beat Whitchurch 6-2 thanks to a maximum from Jo Quick/ Jenny Yeowardson and then drew with Old Basing B.

Steph Catlin/Mary Kwok were unbeaten for Beechdown B in a 5-3 win against Whitchurch and in their draw with Old Basing B.

Pauline Baker/Jemma Godleman won all their sets for Old Basing B in a 5-3 win at Whitchurch.
