DEFENDING champions Andover A took a big step towards retaining their Basingstoke and District Tennis League Men’s Division One title after they beat nearest challengers Kingsclere A 6-2 to move two points clear with two games remaining.

Goodworth Clatford A enjoyed a double over Aldermaston A (7-1) and Waverley A (6-2).

Shaun McDonald/Joe Robinson and Keiran Heighes/Matt Jenkins made up the Overton A team that won 8-0 against Old Basing B. Old Basing A beat Aldermaston A 5-3.

Beechdown A drew level on points with leaders Totally Tennis A in Division Two after a 6-2 win against Waverley B.

RSF B are still favourites for the Division Three title, while Hook beat Overton B 5-3 thanks to Simon King/Alex Waterfield winning all of their sets.

Nigel Baker teamed up with John Milnes and then Nick Sibley to remain unbeaten and earn Kingsclere draws against Beechdown C and Andover C respectively.

Dave Burrell/Andy Wallace got a maximum for BDH in their 5-3 win against Beechdown C. Hampshire Court B extended their lead at the top of Division Four, after an 8-0 win at Totally Tennis C.

Their A team and Mortimer B are the only realistic challengers with games in hand.

Hampshire Court A did drop their first point of the season after a draw at Totally Tennis B with Miles Bromilow/ Matthew Berry winning their sets for the home side.

Mortimer B could also only draw against Oakley C, thanks to a maximum from Stuart Evans/Andy Carter.

Another pair to pick up all their sets were Gary Smallbone/Alberto Vinubles for Totally Tennis B in a 7-1 win against Aldermaston B.

Sherborne won 8-0 at Old Basing C and Odiham B got a good draw at Aldermaston B.

Trevor Woods/Daniel Wee were unbeaten for Oakley C in their 7-1 win against Sherborne.
