PROP Halani Aulika bagged a brace of tries as London Irish beat Championship side Bristol 27-26 in a pre-season friendly at the club’s new Hazelwood training facility last Friday.
Two penalties from Tom Homer had the hosts ahead and while Andy Short’s try got Bristol back into the game, scores from Aulika and Scott Steele had Irish leading 20-5.
Mitch Eadie and Short both crossed the line for Bristol in the closing stages of the half, making it 20-19 at the break, while Aulika’s second score put Irish further ahead.
Ross Johnstone reduced the lead to a single point with another try, but the Exiles held out to claim their second pre-season victory.
Irish play their final pre-season game on Friday night, taking on Munster in Waterford, Ireland.
