Hampshire prodigy Tom Alsop hit a match-winning century as England Under-19s beat their South African counterparts at Trent Bridge.

Batting at No.3, the Hampshire academy star smashed an 80-ball hundred before departing for 107 (83 balls, 13 fours, three sixes) out of England’s 305-5.

Chasing a revised Duckworth/Lewis target of 292 in 46 overs, South Africa were bowled out for 217 to lose by 74 runs.

Alsop’s Hampshire teammate Brad Taylor, 17, impressed with 1-32 from his ten overs on his U19 ODI debut.

England now lead the five-match series 2-0 ahead of tomorrow's third ODI, also at Trent Bridge.
