Saints have not received any offers for midfielder Jack Cork.

Reports today suggested that Crystal Palace have tabled a £3m bid for the Saints star, who is out of contract in a year’s time.

The Daily Echo understands that there have been a number of enquiries for Cork this summer, but Saints have not received any formal bids.

The club are not desperately keen to sell Cork at this stage.

As well providing a central midfield option, Cork also offers cover at right back if Nathaniel Clyne is out.

If Cork were to go then Saints would need to dip into the transfer market again to sign another right back, following the departure of Calum Chambers to Arsenal.

Saints were interested in tabling a £4.5m offer for Leeds right back Sam Byram, but do not plan to go back in for him with Ronald Koeman content that Cork offers a good solution if Clyne is unavailable for any reason.

It is believed that at this stage there are no talks planned over Cork’s contract situation.

The Daily Echo also understands that reports linking Saints with Brighton winger Solly March are wide of the mark.
