JOHN Cogan was crowned champion of Test Valley Golf Club thanks to some solid play over 36 holes.

Cogan shot rounds of 74 (+3) and 76 (+5) to finish with an eight-over-par total of 150, two shots ahead of second-placed Bob Sturt. Chris Forrister was third.

The handicap competition was won by Sam Thompson, whose nett total of 140 (-2) was enough to beat runner-up Brian Mellor by two strokes. Richard Donovan was third.

The senior men’s title was won by Jon Hibberd, who completed two five-over-par rounds of 76 to card a total of 152 (+10), beating second-placed Alan Atkin by an amazing 19 shots.

Terry McQuirk is the senior nett champion after shooting 143 (+1), beating runner-up Greg Saunders by four shots.

Moyna Chown is the senior ladies champion, with Linda Temple taking the nett prize, while Richard Donovan is the veterans champion, with Geoff Law winning the nett competition on countback.

The club’s Members’ Day team competition was won by Mark and Jack Bowen and Peter and Robert Price with a score of 119 points.

Duncan King was the individual winner with 42 points, beating Angela Kennedy on count-back, with Mark Kitching third.
