OAKLEY’S quest to win promotion from Hampshire Cricket League Regional Division One North remains on track after they beat visiting Sherfield-on-Loddon by 143 runs.

Andy Woodgate (55), Neil Robinson (54), Adam Robinson (53) and Sam Holbrook (51) all made half-centuries as Oakley reached an impressive 273-7. Sherfield never got close, being bowled out for 130 in reply.

Dave Simpson’s knock of 72 helped Ramsdell to a six-wicket victory over hosts Basingstoke and North Hants IV. Dave Monger took 3-27 and Mike Lerigo 3-25 as Basingstoke were dismissed for 154 and Simpson was the mainstay of the Ramsdell innings as they got over the line with four wickets down.

Odiham and Greywell also won a local derby, beating hosts Ashford Hill by five wickets after Russell Henly took 3-31 to help restrict Ashford Hill to 141-9.

The other three north Hampshire sides in the division all suffered defeats. Andrew Butler took 3-38 but Herriard were unable to chase down visiting Farley’s total of 206-8, losing by 102 runs. Kingsclere were unable to defend their all-out total of 122 at home to Bentworth, losing by six wickets, while it was a similar story for Old Basing II who went down by five wickets at Winterbourne after being bowled out for 135.

St Mary’s continued their renaissance in Division Two North with a 94-run victory over visiting East Woodhay II. Oli Matthews made 81 and Stephen Reid 51 as the home side reached 210, while Amit Sapkal and Rajendra Makkunari took three wickets each as East Woodhay were dismissed for 116.

Rotherwick ITW and Odiham and Greywell II both suffered defeat. Rotherwick were unable to defend their total of 220-7 at Hawkley, losing by six wickets, while Odiham were bowled out for 168 chasing visiting Rowledge III’s 199-5.

Old Basing III claimed a narrow victory in their Division Three North East local derby away at Basingstoke and North Hants V.

Mandeep Sharma made 88 as the Bountymen reached 164-7, with Laxmikant Sharma taking 4-39 for Basing. Ian Hill took 3-37 in the visitors’ reply, but they crept over the line with two wickets in hand.

Second-placed Hook and Newnham Basics IV claimed a seven-wicket victory over visiting Overton III. Rupert Armstrong took 4-22 as struggling Overton were bowled out for 127, while Josh Bland top-scored with 62 in Hook’s successful reply.

Silchester are right on Hook’s tails after beating visiting Aldershot V by nine wickets. Jack French took 4-22 as Aldershot were bowled out for 135 and the Silchester openers did most of the damage, Shaun Bradley making 62 and David Minifie an unbeaten 51.

Andrew Davies inspired Hartley Wintney III to a 54-run win over Colden Common II. Having seen his side dismissed for 164, the bowler took matters into his own hands, taking 4-30 as the visitors were knocked over for 110.

Bottom side Herriard enjoyed a rare win. Having made 130-8, they restricted Compton and Chandlers Ford III to 121-9 to win by nine runs.

Struggling Ramsdell lost by eight wickets at home to Holybourne II after making 93-9 batting first.

Whitchurch II claimed a six-wicket victory over near-neighbours Longparish III in Division Four North East. Alex Brinton took 3-17 as Longparish were reduced to 133-9 and Martyn Dancer saw his side home with an unbeaten 55.

Oakley II remain top of the table after an eight-wicket victory over hosts Hungerford II. The home side were bowled out for 103 and Michael Wood hit 68 in the leaders’ successful reply.

Odiham and Greywell III are second and they beat hosts Crown Taverners II by 21 runs. Chris Turner and Matt Hall both made 50 as Odiham reached 214-9, while Turner then took 3-4 and Alistair Smee 3-23 as the hosts were restricted to 193-9 in reply.

AWE Tadley II were without a game due to the demise of Herriard III.
