Mark Clattenburg has been confirmed as the referee for Saints’ opening Premier League game of the season at Liverpool on Sunday.
The official was famously subject to a complaint from the club after comments he was alleged to have made to Adam Lallana last season, but was cleared of any wrongdoing by the referee’s body PGMOL.
Clattenburg did return to referee Saints again before the end of the season.
There will be no reunion with Lallana, however, with the former Saint and now Liverpool midfielder set to miss the start of the season with a knee injury.
