SEVEN wickets from Bournemouth’s Rob Pack sent visiting Hook and Newnham Basics crashing to a 124-run defeat in Southern League Division One.

Hook were all out for 116, after the departure of top scorer Ben Thane (35) and fellow opener Jordan Hobday (13) the only two players to make it into double figures. Park returned impressive figures of 7-17 from 10 overs.

Earlier, the home side made 240-8 as Michael Kitson top scored with 76 and Jake Hurley hit an unbeaten 55.

Spence Champ (4-30), who took a wicket with his second ball, was the pick of the bowlers, while Shane Brewer and Anik Divecha both had two scalps each.

This weekend, Hook will entertain Basingstoke and North Hants in their final derby game of the season.

Hartley Wintney’s Division Two promotion hopes were dented as they lost by 40 runs to visiting Portsmouth.

They had the Pompey side reeling at 35-6, but thanks to a century Scott Curwood, they recovered to 280-8 In reply, Hartley were bowled out for 240 with Ari Karvelas (64) their top scorer and he was well supported Louis Lynch (42), Tommy Flanders (33) and Chris Jolley (32).

This weekend, they are away at Havant II.
