A BUDDING Lewis Hamilton, teenage kart racer Ethan Perry, has clinched the National Formula Six Kart Championship with two races to spare.

The 13-year-old from Hatch Warren secured his title as he maintained his 100 per cent winning record in his class at his favourite track, Bayford Meadows.

The Veneno Racing team driver produced some strong qualifying laps and then finished second overall, which gave him another class victory and the title.

Perry opened his quest to win the title at Camberley Kart Club, finishing fifth overall and winning his class.

A month later at his first outing at Bayford he took a third place and a class win as well as the fastest lap.

Fastest laps and class wins at Whilton Hill and Buckmore followed, before more success at Camberley and Forest Edge. This enabled him to wrap up the title at Bayford as he completed a clean sweep of class wins.

Delighted Perry said: “I really wanted to win the championship this year and it was great to do it with two races to spare. I must thank everyone who has helped me all season.”

The Perins School’s pupil was introduced to the sport by a cousin and is now in his third year of driving.

Perry added: “My motor racing hero is Lewis Hamilton and I would love to follow in his footsteps.”

The young racing star is looking for sponsorship to help him move up the ranks in the sport.
