CHINEHAM racing driver Chris Mohan enjoyed his time at the Snetterton 300 circuit last month, as he recorded three podium finishes in the Dunlop VAG Trophy Championship.

He arrived at the Norfolk track with high hopes of success, having collected a podium there in the 2013.

Heavy storms early on the morning of qualifying made the track greasy and the Chineham driver ended up being placed 20 out of 28 starters.

By the time race one arrived the Norfolk track was dry and Mohan was pleased with a creditable 13th, which was fourth in Class B of the VAG Trophy and also gained him the final podium place in the Mk4 Golf GTI/TDI Challenge class.

Race two saw Mohan involved in a five-car battle for third place. After dropping down to fifth to avoid a spinning car, Mohan retained this position for the final two laps despite coming under a lot of pressure. Driving his ISN Golf GTI, Mohan came second in the Mk4 Golf GTI/TDI Challenge as well as third in the Dunlop VAG Trophy Championship.

Mohan said: “It feels great to come away with three podium positions and some strong points on the table.

“The ISN Golf GTI performed well throughout both races. They were both tough races in the searing heat and I also had to carry success ballast from Rockingham earlier in the season.”

Mohan added: “I must thank Intuitive Systems Networks Ltd for their continued support.”

The Chineham driver is next in action when the championship travels to the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit on the weekend of August 16 and 17.
