BASINGSTOKE and North Hants became the second team to make the final four of the Finch Group Guy Jewell Cup after a thrilling four-run victory over Hook & Newnham Basics at May’s Bounty.
The home side batted first and made 154-5 thanks to Steve Bucksey (63 not out) and Bradley Neal (38), while Spencer Champ took 3-22.
In reply, Hook scored 150-5 with Nick Willcock unbeaten on 56 and Jordan Hobday making 34. Basingstoke spin bowler Dave Pistorius (2-16) was the chief wicket taker.
Monday’s quarter-final between Old Basing and Odiham and Greywell was rained off.
