CARL Saunders’ long-range strike ensured that Hartley Wintney got their Combined Counties League Premier Division campaign off to a winning start.
The village club hosted Colliers Wood United at the Memorial Ground in their opening game of the season on Saturday afternoon.
A tight game was won by a single goal, Saunders smashing in a fantastic shot from distance to earn his side all three points.
Hartley are in action again tomorrow night, travelling to local rivals Cove. They also won on Saturday, claiming a 2-1 victory away at Ashford Town (Middlesex).
