Algerian midfielder Saphir Taider is expected to become the latest part of Ronald Koeman’s Saints rebuilding jigsaw.

The 22-year-old is on course to move to St Mary’s on a season long loan from Inter Milan, with Dani Osvaldo moving in the opposite direction – also on loan.

Taider only signed for Inter from Bologna last summer, making 25 Serie A appearances in 2013/14 - of which 12 came off the bench.

Osvaldo will return to Italy after an unsuccessful loan spell with champions Juventus in the second half of last season.

Saints’ record signing appeared in 11 league games for Juve, starting only four of them, and scored just once.
