Dandy’s Lane Fishery was the venue for Kennet Ospreys’ latest match, and after a hard to resist breakfast, 17 well fed anglers found the fish in feeding mode, none more than Roger Beale, whose 114lb 14oz of carp fell to the floating feeder.

Venue expert Mick Donohoe was heard giving thanks, as he drew yet another flyer and went on to put 109lb of carp in the sack on pole, pellet and corn.

Consistent Steve Telford’s 104lb 8oz was a pole and pellet up in the water affair, while Paul Bassinder’s 104lb made up the frame.

All caught at this most picturesque of lakes.

Basingstoke Railway Club’s trip to Chaley Park saw Trevor Matthews finish top of the heap with 33lb of carp on the pellet waggler. John Hooley also fished the pellet waggler for his 22lb of carp. Stacey’s supremo Keith Brown caught two carp in the margins and one on the feeder for his even 19lb. Brian O’Donnel made fourth with 12lb 10oz.

This was a “rod and line” only match. Seventeen fished and caught.

Adventure AS went to Walters Lake, near Swindon, for their latest trip, and Mick Fordham took the honours, bagging an even 91lb of carp on pole and meat close in. Mark Blackmon also fished with meat down the edge for his 86lb 14oz, just topping Sean Shilds, whose 84lb 6oz was also a pole and meat affair. Graham Shadwell caught 81lb 12oz of skimmers and carp on pole and paste for fourth spot.

Twelve fished and caught.

Camrose AC went to an in-form Soke Road Fishery last Sunday, where Colin Thomas made it two wins in a row, banking 61lb of mixed on pole and meat. Brian Orchard’s 30lb 4oz was a carp catch on pole and pellet. Bill Atkinson’s 25lb 14oz was also a pole and pellet bag, while Chris Hopgood caught 21lb 15oz of mixed. Ten fished and caught.

Jake Gallagher topped out at Adventure’s match at Gold Valley.

Fishing the pellet waggler, 90lb 6oz of carp found their way into his net. Nick Sargent’s 56lb 10oz was next, followed by Sean Shilds’ 48lb and Martin Wickens’ 47lb 12oz.

Twenty-five fished and caught.

Camrose AC’s match at Frobury Farm saw Colin Thomas top out on 58lb 4oz of carp on pole and meat. Tony Holdsworth was next with 54lb 8oz, followed by Brian Orchard and Bill Atkinson on 45lb 2oz and 27lb respectively.

Thirteen fished and caught.

Kennet Ospreys’ match at Whatmore Farm saw Steve Telford score with 96lb of carp on slow sinking pellet wag. Graham Shadwell fished the pellet waggler for his 78lb of carp. Mark Funnel did the same for 75lb 12oz, as did Mark Parsons for his even 50lb.

Twenty-three fished, some did not catch.

On a recent pleasure trip to Stacey’s New Barlows Lake, I fished paste at 11 metres on peg nine, and caught 27 bream, 11 carp and four tench in just over six hours.

The best pleasure day I’ve had for many years. Next time I get a free day I’ll go back for more.

Catch me next week.
